Navegando Libres por la Red is a program by Taller de Comunicación Mujer which aims to promote the rights of women, girls, children, adolescents, and LGBTQ+ individuals within the realm of technology, in order to contribute to the creation of a feminist internet. We imagine a feminist internet as a space free of violence, where we can meet, connect and develop technology based on care, the exercise of human rights in the digital space and collective weaving.

At Navegando Libres we focus on preventing and responding to gender-based violence in the digital environment through collective care, networking and community-based strategies.

Digital gender-based violence is any form of discrimination, harassment, exploitation, abuse, and aggression that occurs through the use of social media, email, cell phones, and any means within information and communication technologies (ICT), which leads to various impacts on physical, psychological, emotional, sexual, and economic levels.

This type of violence mainly affects women, girls, boys, adolescents and LGBTIQ+ people due to the reproduction of power relations that occur in contexts of social inequality. Gender-based violence in the digital sphere has repercussions on private life and social relations in a real and immediate way.

We wish to inhabit the internet and technologies from a place of care and affection. We want to build a feminist internet where we feel safe, free and accompanied.

The Navegando Libres por la Red program is made up of a multidisciplinary team that is committed to the participatory and collective construction of processes based on feminist action. We understand feminism from its diversities, as a changing philosophy and practice that is made in everyday life, and we are framed in the logics of the Transhackfeminist manifesto.

What we do?

Navegando Libres has a multidisciplinary transhackfeminist team that works along three axes:

1

Knowledge generation

Ofrecemos una perspectiva feminista desde el Sur Global sobre los derechos digitales, para visibilizar y comprender las violencias que se ejercen a través de las TIC.

2

Training in holistic and digital protection

To support the development of skills and reflections on techno-politics from a cross-cutting perspective.

3

Feminist Helpline

From a feminist approach we generate strategies with survivors to mitigate digital gender violence and generate capacities
